This photo represents the severe racism that the Irish went through in the past. I found it disgusting that in this picture they depict the Irish as simple and lazy. They also made the Irish look less human by giving them animalistic features and presenting them as criminals such as in The Land Lord Killing Industry. I feel that that picture shows that race is a social construct, because if you look through history, the British have always despised southern Ireland because they did not want to be a part of the British Empire. By making this group of people seem less human it was a way of saying that the British are more civilized than the Irish and since they would not obey the colonialists then it is okay to abuse and humiliate these people in the public and in the media.
